British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has had a tumultuous week, fighting for his political survival.
He has seen off a challenge to his leadership following repeated criticism over his decision to appoint Peter Mandelson – who had close ties with the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein – as the UK’s ambassador to the US.
Starmer faced pressure to resign from high profile figures in his ruling Labour party, including from the Scottish Labour Leader Anas Sarwar.
Two members of the prime minister’s team, his chief of staff and director of communications have also stood down.
However, in a turn of fate, Keir Starmer won over senior ministers and MPs saying he was ‘not prepared to walk away’.
But is he out of danger?
Our political correspondent Rob Watson gave us the background.
