Afghan beauticians staged a protest in Kabul on Wednesday against the Taliban’s 27 July deadline for the closure of all the country’s beauty salons.
The United Nations assistance mission in Afghanistan condemned what it called "the forceful suppression of a peaceful protest by women against the ban on beauty salons".
This is the latest draconian restriction imposed on women by the Taliban since they came to power two years ago.
