Belarus: Persecution of opposition figures spills over to families – BBC Newsnight


Opposition figures in Belarus – a country that’s a close ally of Russia – have been persecuted since the late 1990s – not only have they been jailed, but they’ve been allegedly killed – with their murders never solved.

Their families, though, were usually spared. Now that appears to be changing: BBC Russian’s Maria Jevstafjeva has spoken to two exiled Belarusian activists who believe their loved ones were arrested in retaliation for the anti-government actions of their fathers.
