Key members of the Belarus opposition are on trial in absentia on charges of conspiracy to seize power and forming an extremist organisation.
The five accused have all been living abroad since fleeing after mass protests in 2020 failed to topple president Alexander Lukashenko.
The opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, one of those facing charges, told the BBC the trial was a "farce".
