Bernie Sanders didn’t make it to the White House, but he did manage to steal some of the limelight at Jo Biden’s inauguration – not with a suitably radical placard, but with a pair of oversize hand-knitted mittens, which led to some hilarious memes.

Following the release of his new book entitled "It’s ok to be angry about capitalism”, Newsnight’s Kirsty Wark asked Bernie Sanders if Joe Biden is really the best person to beat Donald Trump.
