Bison roam wild in Cumbria for the first time in 6,000 years | BBC News

For the first time in 6,000 years, bison are roaming wild in Cumbria.

BBC Travel Show’s Roma Wells helps Donovan Wright, one of only two bison rangers in the UK, release them into the wild. And it’s as extraordinary as it sounds.

On the 200th birthday of the Zoological Society of London, Roma asks the question on everyone’s minds: what are zoos actually for in 2026?

The Travel Show ‘Do Zoos Have a Future?’ is out this weekend on BBC News worldwide and anytime on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
