Donald Trump has defended his decision to deploy the National Guard to Los Angeles despite criticism from California official.
The US president says LA would have been "completely obliterated" otherwise and hits out at California Governor Gavin Newsom, who said he’s suing the Trump administration.
Demonstrations began outside in downtown LA on Friday after it emerged Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers were carrying out raids across the city.
Donald Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard troops to the city, triggering a political row with LA mayor Karen Bass, who believed local police could handle the protests.
