Campaigning for the French general election has kicked off, after President Emmanuel Macron called a snap election following victory for his rival Marine Le Pen’s National Rally in the European Parliament vote.
The French political picture consists of the newly formed New Popular Front on the Left, the National Rally on the Right, and in the Centre President Macron and his allies.
The elections are conducted over two rounds, beginning on 30 June. The next round is on 7 July.
