The final stage of easing lockdown restrictions in England is to be delayed until 19 July.
It comes amid rising cases, driven by the more transmissible Delta variant, which was first identified in India.
However, the latest data from Public health England shows encouraging signs of just how effective a double dose of the vaccination is proving against covid hospitalisation from the Delta variant.
Pfizer has proved up to 96% effective after two jabs, Astra-Zeneca up to 92% after both.
