A Christmas market in Germany has been turned into a scene of carnage after a car ploughed through crowds, leaving at least two people dead – including a small child – and injuring around 60 other people.
It took place in a market in the centre of the city of Magdeburg in east Germany.
Emergency services and police have been deployed in large numbers as local hospitals are prepared for a mass casualty event.
The driver of the car is said to be a 50 year old doctor who’s a Saudi national and who has been in Germany since 2006.
