Caroline Flack’s mother rejects police apology for the handling of her case – BBC News

TV host Caroline Flack took her own life three years ago. It was after she learned she would be facing prosecution for allegedly assaulting her then boyfriend.

Originally the Crown Prosecution Service recommended the Love Island presenter should be cautioned. A senior Metropolitan police officer appealed against that and a charge ultimately followed.

Last month Caroline Flack’s mum received an apology from the Metropolitan Police, because they hadn’t kept any formal record of why they charged her daughter with assault.

The Met told the BBC “a review by the Independent Office for Police Conduct did not identify any misconduct in relation to the handling of Ms Flack’s arrest, however, it concluded that an officer involved in the investigation should receive reflective practice."

In her first broadcast interview since the Met’s apology, Christine Flack says she doesn’t accept the apology.
