China’s President Xi Jinping gets red carpet welcome on visit to Serbia | BBC News


President Xi Jinping has arrived in Serbia, as the European country strengthens its political and economic ties with China.

Red flags lined the route from Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport and ran all the way along the motorway into the centre of the capital – Serbia’s way of showing that it is proud of its “ironclad friendship” with China.

While it is not often that Serbia finds itself on the travel itinerary of such stature, Serbia has been deepening its relationship with China in recent years, while it continues with negotiations to join the European Union.
