The situation in Ukraine’s neighbour Moldova, where the Russian-backed separatist territory of Transnistria is located, is under increased scrutiny after a series of explosions.
According to Emma Ashford of the Atlantic Council, the region of Transnistria, where the explosions occurred, is one of the frozen wars of the post-Soviet zone.
”There’s always the possibility of things heating up again in a frozen conflict," she added.
