Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Health Secretary Matt Hancock have rejected Dominic Cummings’s claims over their alleged mishandling of the pandemic. But who’s telling the truth? Please subscribe HERE http://bit.ly/1rbfUog
Boris Johnson has rejected claims by his former closest adviser Dominic Cummings that government mistakes led to thousands of extra Covid deaths.
The PM said some of the "commentary" didn’t "bear any relation to reality".
And Health Secretary Matt Hancock – who was accused by Mr Cummings of lying about his handling of the pandemic – said the allegations were "not true".
But Labour accused him of failing to answer "pressing questions" on testing, PPE and care home mistakes.
Newsnight’s Nick Watt reports and Emma Barnett is joined by Yale fellow and former Conservative MP Rory Stewart, Conservative MP Simon Hoare and Prof Reicher Stephen, who sits on SPI-B.
