Deadly tornadoes sweep through southern US – BBC News


At least seven people have been killed by tornadoes in Georgia and Alabama in the US, with officials saying they are still searching for bodies.

Over 35 tornadoes were reported by the National Weather Services across southern states on Thursday, putting more than 30 million people at risk.

The storms have destroyed buildings and caused blackouts for thousands across four states.

The governors of Alabama and Georgia have each signed state of emergency declarations.
