India’s capital Delhi has overtaken the Pakistani city of Lahore as the most polluted city on Earth.
Delhi’s air pollution index had reached 418, which is defined as ‘severe’, on 14 November, according to IQAir, a Swiss-based Air Quality Index monitoring group. A ‘good’ rating is between zero and 50.
The Indian city battles smog every winter, due to plummeting temperatures, smoke, dust, low wind speed, vehicular emissions and crop stubble burning.
