Donald Trump says cause of Washington DC air collision unknown | BBC News

US President Donald Trump has said the cause of the Washington DC air collision is still unknown, but attacked diversity policies at the Federal Aviation Administration.

Trump was giving a press conference following the crash between a passenger plane and a military helicopter.

Officials have said no-one is believed to have survived – 64 people were on the American Airlines flight and three on the helicopter.

Trump blamed diversity rules under his predecessors, saying he believes people were hired for air traffic control roles who were not qualified – but he offered no evidence for this.
