El Salvador has seen several high profile cases of women who suffered miscarriages being sentenced to 30 years in jail for murder.
In February, four of these women sat down before the the press. Between them, they had served nearly 50 years in prison.
Among them was Elsy. who told the BBC: "I just kept thinking, ‘Why? Why did those who testified against me do this?’"
The country has some of the world’s harshest anti-abortion laws, which ban all kinds of terminations even if the pregnancy poses a risk to the mother’s life or results from rape or incest.
