The FBI has been searching the home of Donald Trump’s former national security adviser John Bolton, who has become a vocal critic of the US president since serving in his first administration.
Agents have been seen at Bolton’s home in the Washington DC suburb of Bethesda, Maryland, and the FBI has also been operating near Bolton’s downtown Washington DC office, the agency confirmed.
The search is related to an investigation over classified documents, the BBC’s US news partner CBS reports.
Trump has previously accused his former national security adviser of misusing classified information in Bolton’s 2020 book, which was highly critical of Trump’s first presidency.
