Fentanyl: Why are so many Americans dying from synthetic opioids? – BBC News


Fentanyl is a potent and highly addictive synthetic opioid, approved for use in the US in the 1960s.

Today, Fentanyl is involved in more deaths in Americans under the age of 50 than any other cause of death, according to the country’s Drug Enforcement Agency.

And now child opioid deaths are also on the rise.
