Final countdown to Nasa’s Artemis II launch | BBC News

Nasa is sending four people on a ten-day trip around the Moon in its Artemis II mission.

The crew includes three Nasa astronauts – Commander Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch – along with Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency. They will be the first in more than 50 years to orbit the moon.

It’s set to blast off from the Kennedy Space Centre launch site at 18:24 local time on Wednesday (23:24 BST).

The mission will take its astronauts further into space than anyone has been before, and aims to set the stage for an eventual human moon landing for the first time since the Apollo missions of the 1960s and 70s.

The BBC’s Science Editor Rebecca Morelle is at the Kennedy Space Centre ahead of the launch.
