A court in Dhaka has sentenced the former Bangladeshi prime minister to death after she was found guilty of ordering security forces to kill protesters. She has also been convicted of crimes against humanity.
Sheikh Hasina was found guilty of allowing lethal force to be used against protesters, 1,400 of whom died during the unrest last year.
The BBC’s Global Affairs reporter, Anbarasan Ethirajan, has been covering this story and met Sheikh Hasina during his time reporting in Bangladesh.
