France riots: President Macron announces emergency funding after unrest – BBC News

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced an emergency bill to speed up reconstruction in communities affected by a week of street unrest.

It follows a week of riots and looting after a police officer’s fatal shooting of 17-year-old Nahel M near Paris.

Millions of euros worth of damage to public transport and infrastructure has reportedly been caused across the country.

Macron said he believes the peak of rioting across the country has passed.
