France’s far right adopts murdered schoolgirl Lola – BBC News

A 12-year-old schoolgirl named Lola – who was raped and murdered at her apartment complex in Paris – has become a cause célèbre for France’s anti-immigration parties, after an Algerian woman was charged with the offences.

The 24-year-old woman – known as Dhabia B – allegedly carried out the attack after ignoring an order to leave France this year, triggering questions over France’s handling of immigration.

Far-right demonstrators had taken to the streets after the discovery of Lola’s body.

The girl’s family last week demanded that people "immediately stop using the name and image of their child for political ends", both at public gatherings and on the internet.
