Gary Lineker has been pulled from BBC football highlights show Match of the Day after his social media posts criticised the UK government’s new asylum policy.
The BBC said it considered Lineker’s "recent social media activity to be a breach of our guidelines".
It added he should "keep well away from taking sides on party political issues or political controversies".
A number of BBC pundits and commentators have pulled out of Saturday’s sport coverage in "solidarity" with the presenter.
