Gaza is suffering “man-made” mass starvation caused by an Israeli blockade on aid, according to World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The WHO said that a quarter of Gaza’s population is facing famine-like conditions, and that almost 100,000 women and children are suffering from severe acute malnutrition and need treatment as soon as possible.
Cogat – a branch of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) that deals with logistical coordination between Israel and the Gaza Strip – released a statement on Thursday insisting it is continuing to "facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza".
