How sensors could show you how fresh your food is – BBC News

Australian scientists are developing a sensor that gives real-time information about how fresh your food is.

People can see if products are ok to eat by checking the colour of the sensors on the packaging.

It it’s blue it’s fine, purple means the food should be eaten soon, while red warns you the product has gone bad and shouldn’t be consumed.

If successful, the scientists hope it could help reduce the huge global problem of household food waste.
