How the Queen’s speech traditions changed in 2022 – BBC News


Prince Charles stood in for the Queen for the first time to open a new session of Parliament, after she had to pull out because of mobility problems.

The Queen was absent from the State Opening of Parliament for the first time in 59 years.

In the House of Lords, Prince Charles gave her speech outlining her government’s priorities, listing the bills it plans to bring before MPs and peers.
