Hunter Biden: Federal gun trial of US president’s son begins | BBC News

Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, has become the first child of a sitting US president to be a criminal defendant.

Prosecutors allege Hunter Biden, 54, lied about his drug use on application forms when he purchased a handgun in 2018.

He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the three federal counts, in a case that began on Monday with jury selection.

Mr Biden, the only surviving son of President Joe Biden, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
