Storm Hurricane Ian has made landfall in Cuba, bringing wind speeds of up to 185km/hr.
Thousands of people have been told to seek shelter as Cuban authorities declare emergencies in six areas. Forecasters are warning of storm surges along the coast and flash floods.
The storm has strengthened into a category three hurricane since hitting the island, however forecasters expect it to gather more strength as it moves to Florida, where mandatory evacuations are taking place.
