It’s being felt significantly in ambulance waiting times which are at record highs.

Newsnight spoke to three ambulance service employees across the course of the week to build a picture of how severely the system is under pressure.

Their testimonials laid bare a service where patients are kept in the back of ambulances because of limited bed capacity in hospitals and thousands of emergency callouts are delayed.
