The number of people killed in Iran’s Evin prison fire has risen from four to eight, the country’s judiciary said.
Officials said dozens more were injured in the blaze in the Tehran jail, which is known for holding political prisoners and dual nationals.
The cause of the fire is disputed: the judiciary says the fire began in a prison workshop after a fight among inmates, whereas state TV claims it was a "premeditated" escape plan by prisoners.
Rights groups are calling for an independent investigation.
