President Trump says he had told Israel not to repeat its attacks on Iranian gas infrastructure, following tit-for-tat strikes that sent energy prices soaring .
Iran responded to an Israeli attack on a major gas field by hitting Qatar’s Ras Laffan site, which processes around a fifth of the world’s liquefied natural gas. The damage will take years to repair. Iran has warned that it will show “zero restraint” if there are further attacks on its energy infrastructure.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel "acted alone" in attacking the Iranian gas field, as tensions mount over strikes on energy infrastructure across the region.
The attacks led to another spike in energy prices and US President Donald Trump later posted he had not known about them in advance. It’s raised more questions over how united Israel and the US remain in their war aims.
Netanyahu also denied that his country had dragged the US into the war or "misled" Trump, saying that no one could tell the US leader what to do.
