US President Joe Biden says a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas was "closer than we’ve ever been".
However, speaking at the White House, the US president cautioned an agreement is "not there yet".
The US, Qatar and Egypt have presented a proposal that aims to bridge gaps between Israel and Hamas after months of deadlock in talks to end the war in Gaza and secure the release of Israeli hostages.
After two days of negotiations in Doha, the mediators said they would meet in Cairo before the end of next week “with the aim to conclude the deal under the terms put forward today”.
