Israel has intensified its bombardment of Gaza, despite calls from the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken for a “humanitarian pause” in the fighting.
The BBC’s reporter in the Gaza Strip says the latest Israeli air strikes are the most intense since the war began.
It comes as Israeli ground troops continue their advance, saying they have reached the coastline south of Gaza City.
Israel has said it must see progress on release of the hostages taken by Hamas gunmen from Israel before it will agree to any pause in its offensive.
