Israeli military says it will move displaced civilians in Gaza to ‘humanitarian islands’ | BBC News

The Israeli military said it plans to move displaced Palestinians living in Rafah to ‘humanitarian islands’, ahead of its planned offensive in the area.

There are not many details on how the ‘islands’ will work or what they look like – but Israeli officials have said there will be temporary housing and aid for 1.4 million Palestinians.

More than half of Gaza’s population is sheltering in Rafah, as civilians have fled fighting in other regions of the territory.
