Israel’s Prime Minister rejects calls for a ceasefire – BBC News

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a media briefing from Tel Aviv.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he wanted to make Israel’s position on a ceasefire clear.

Israel’s prime minister said: "Calls for a ceasefire are calls for Israel to surrender to Hamas, to surrender to terrorism."

The briefing came around an hour after the Israeli military said it had rescued a female soldier in Gaza who was taken hostage by Hamas on 7 October.

Hamas had earlier released a video showing three people held hostage in Gaza.
