Israel’s security cabinet has approved a plan to take control of Gaza City, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office says.
The new strategy fell short of the initial proposal by the Israeli prime minister to occupy the entire Gaza Strip.
Earlier, the UN warned that Israel expanding military operations risked "catastrophic consequences" for Palestinian civilians and Israeli hostages.
