In the first of a series of films: ‘Families on the Frontline’, Newsnight spent time with two families to see how the squeeze is being felt by them.

One mother, Kat, is now using her local food bank for the first time having previously donated to it in the past. At home meanwhile, her television and wifi have been disconnected in an effort to save on bills.

Another mother, Sanaa, who has her seventh child on the way, is feeling the strain on the family purse as the price of food and clothing increases.
