Jay Slater’s family said their "hearts are broken" after his body was identified in Tenerife.
Almost a month since the 19-year-old was last seen, a Spanish court confirmed that he had been identified through fingerprint tests and his injuries were "consistent with a fall in a rocky area".
The teenager, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, had been missing since 17 June, after visiting an Airbnb rented by two people he had been with at the NRG music festival on the island.
His mother, Debbie Duncan, said "our hearts are broken" following the confirmation, which came after a 29-day search by police, family, friends and volunteers in difficult terrain across a mountainous area of the island.
