Karine Jean-Pierre has made history after being chosen by President Joe Biden to become his new White House press secretary, becoming the first black and openly gay person to hold the role.
Jean-Pierre will take over next week from outgoing press secretary Jen Psaki.
At a press briefing announcing the change, Jean-Pierre said: "This is a historic moment and it’s not lost on me. I understand how important it is for so many people out there."
