In an interview with Amol Rajan for his BBC podcast, Radical, Amodei explains how his company’s technology has been used by hackers to carry out sophisticated cyber attacks.
Anthropic, which makes the chatbot Claude, says its tools were used by hackers "to commit large-scale theft and extortion of personal data".
It was able to disrupt the threat actors and has reported the cases to the authorities along with improving its detection tools.
Amodei, who used to work for OpenAI, also explains why he thinks there needs to be more regulation of artificial intelligence and criticises other technology companies for lobbying against it.
