Israel’s military has confirmed it carried out an airstrike on a refugee camp in northern Gaza.
The Israel Defence Forces says the attack killed a senior Hamas commander.
The number of dead is not confirmed but a doctor treating the injured said the bodies of around 120 people killed in the attack were at his hospital.
The attack took place in the densely populated Jabalia refugee camp which is normally home to more than 100,000 people. It is within northern Gaza, an area which Israel had told people to leave for their own safety.
Israel’s attacks on Gaza follow the raid on southern Israel by Hamas gunmen which left 1,400 people dead.
