McDonald’s: Sexual abuse investigations launched – BBC News

A number of former McDonald’s employees are taking legal action after a BBC investigation exposed a toxic culture of sexual assault, harassment, racism and bullying at the fast food chain.

McDonald’s pledged "zero tolerance" on sexual harassment and to deliver training for employees – but staff have told the BBC the training is not being taken seriously by managers.

Now, the firm’s UK chief executive, Alastair McCrow, has said he’s determined to root out any behaviour that "fell short of the high standards expected at the company."

McDonald’s is one of the UK’s largest private-sector employers, with more than 170,000 people working in 1,450 restaurants.

Its staff are also one of the country’s youngest workforces, with three quarters of its employees aged between 16 and 25.
