Meningitis cases linked to outbreak in Kent, UK rises to 29 | BBC News


The UK Health Security Agency says that 29 cases of confirmed or probable meningitis have now been recorded, linked to the outbreak in Kent, UK.

The family of an 18-year-old who died during the outbreak called for a vaccine to be made available to teenagers and young adults.

Juliette Kenny died on 14 March, the day after she started showing symptoms, her father said.

The outbreak was first announced publicly on 13 March with local nightclub Club Chemistry linked to a number of cases.

People have been queuing at the University of Kent to get vaccinations – over 2,000 vaccines and nearly 10,000 antibiotics have been given out so far.
