More than 300 dead after flooding in South Africa – BBC News

The South African government has declared a state of disaster in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal which includes the city of Durban.

Some areas in the province have seen months worth of rain fall in one day leaving more than 300 dead. Officials have called it "one of the worst weather storms in the history of our country".

Mudslides have trapped people under buildings and officials have said their resources to cope with the rescue effort have been stretched.
