A deadline of 1st May for all international troops to be pulled out of Afghanistan is set to be extended because of a surge in Taliban violence.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the American-led invasion, and troop withdrawal is central to last year’s US-Taliban deal, signed by President Trump but now under review by President Biden.
