Several people have been injured in a busy New York City subway after shots were fired at a station in Brooklyn.

Police say a male attacker, wearing a gas mask, detonated two smoke grenades and opened fire at Brooklyn’s 36th Street station shortly before 8:30 on Tuesday morning.

New York City police are looking for 62-year-old Frank R James as “a person of interest" after the morning rush-hour shooting.

The New York Police Department asked "anyone with information on his whereabouts" to call a hotline.
