Nigerian government under pressure over kidnapping crisis | BBC News

Activists have accused Nigerian authorities of ignoring a kidnapping crisis and have called for the rescue of students abducted in the north last week.

The Christian Association of Nigeria said more than 300 children were kidnapped when gunman stormed a Catholic boarding school on Friday.

Fifty of those children have escaped and have been reunited with their families, according to the association. However, the police said they haven’t been able to confirm these reports.

A rescue operation is under way for the 253 children and 12 teachers who remain missing.
