The Northern Ireland protocol is the system designed to avoid checks and disruptions for trade on the border of Northern Ireland and the Republic.  
 
But since it has been implemented some trade disruption has instead happened over goods arriving from Great Britain into Northern Ireland. 
 
Why is it still proving such a stumbling block 6 weeks after the end of the transition period?
